Gary Vaynerchuk joined us today and crashed Ustream & this site within 5 minutes.
That’s when you know you have a following! Anyway we still had an awesome interview. So, I’ll stop typing and you can watch it now!
A couple of soundbites:
“I am way too strong to let peoples negativity affect me”
“No matter how skilled my punk ass thinks I am, I still have a lot to learn”
Gary’s advice for startups:
“Bootstrap for at least a year”
“Be mentally prepared”
“It’s all about money, have enough money to last for at least a year”
“Start selling and take that cash baby!”
If this is your first day in the social media space, here is more on Gary Vaynerchuk:
What motivates this revolution, you ask? Our movement seeks to break down the barriers, stereotypes, and misperceptions that otherwise prevent people from exploring and enjoying the exciting and rewarding world of wine. Gary Vaynerchuk (VAY NER CHUK), the star of Wine Library TV, is Director of Operations at Wine Library in Springfield, NJ. With his unconventional, often irreverent commentary on wine, Gary has attracted a cult-like following of more than 80,000 viewers a day. In the name of “expanding one’s palate”, Gary convinced Conan O’Brien to lick salted rocks and shared samples of dirt and grass with Ellen Degeneres. He routinely pans popular wines (even ones sold by Wine Library). He interrupts his webcasts with rants about his beloved New York Jets. This is not your typical wine expert

“I am way too strong to let peoples negativity affect me” For any start-up that has to be written on the wall. I really liked the fact that there were different questions asked it displayed a different side of you. I like the Vayner Media idea can’t wait until you launch. @SpartX will offer up equity in a heartbeat to have you on the board. Oh yeah my nickname back in school was “Terminator” Numb…I will defend my title when I see you.

Aronado,
That was as solid of an interview as I’ve seen in a long time in any space. Unique questions. The kind we haven’t heard asked 15 times before.
Gary shared some solid thoughts.
* Have a model that does not rely on money for a year.
* Do it in your spare time.
* Understand your market completely.
* Be mentally prepared.
Hope to see more from Gary in a few months as he launches or just after he launches his new projects.
Best,
@Admore
